Timeless Handiwork Series

Lillie’s Timeless Handiwork series celebrates delicate craftsmanship by embedding intricate textile patterns into ceramics. By imprinting handmade crocheted lace onto clay, she thoughtfully preserves the quiet, careful labor of traditional handiwork.

Each piece, uniquely expressive due to the unpredictability of raku firing, becomes a lasting tribute to fragility, endurance, and the shared histories that textiles quietly hold.

Bronze Pocket Vase

Medium: Earthenware, reclaimed clay, rakufired

Dimensions: 5” x 4.5” x 2” inches (12.7 x 11.4 x 5.1 cm)

This hand-built ceramic vase preserves the fleeting intricacy of handmade crocheted lace—a material historically crafted with time, patience, and care. Imprinting lace into the clay surface, I sought to honor the quiet labor of handiwork, transforming delicate fiber into a lasting ceramic imprint. Raku firing adds another layer of unpredictability, reinforcing the theme of fragility and endurance, impermanence and memory. This piece reflects my broader exploration of how tactile history can be embedded into ceramics, turning everyday materials into lasting totems of shared moments and traditions.
